30 Hop

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

When the owners of the successful 30Hop in Coralville decided to expand to Cedar Rapids, they turned to OPN Architects to translate their brand aesthetic to a new location. Playing on the restaurants signature bright colors, exposed beams, and natural materials, OPN designed a space that transitions from casual dining to late night revelry.

On the ground floor, large booths offer space for more intimate conversations balanced by rows of high top tables. At the back of the dining area, the design team embraced structural poles in the middle of the space by fashioning tables on casters. The tables can seat six individually or swing end to end to accommodate larger groups. Signage leads patrons upstairs where a second bar, tables, and cozy nook create space private parties. In warmer weather diners can sit outside on the patio encircling the main dining area on the ground level or upstairs on the rooftop deck. Located along a busy road, OPN designed planters to create visual and sound barriers from the traffic.
