Architect or Project Architect

We are currently seeking a talented Architect or Project Architect to join our dynamic team in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, or Iowa City, Iowa; Madison, Wisconsin; or Minneapolis, Minnesota studios. The ideal candidate will have an architectural degree and 5+ years’ experience, preferably in the K-12 market.

Our open studio environment and collaborative approach to architecture requires that you work well with others and consistently build strong relationships with teammates and clients. The right person for our studio will be able to efficiently and effectively lead the project team from design through project completion in a predominately autonomous fashion. Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills are critical for success in our highly energized office culture.

Interior Designer

We are currently seeking talented Interior Designers to join our dynamic teams in our Des Moines, Iowa or Madison, Wisconsin studios.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience, and experience in an architectural design firm is a plus.

Education Practice Leader – K-12

We are currently seeking an Education Practice Leader for our established and growing public education market in the Eastern Iowa region.

The ideal candidate shall be a licensed architect with a minimum of 15 years’ experience. Primary career focus in public education and a genuine drive for both career and business growth are essential.  Experience and related skills shall include an advanced level of knowledge of the K-12 market in Business Development and Client Relations, Pre-Bond Services and Funding Options, Programming, Planning and Design, applicable Building and Life Safety Codes, all phases of Construction Document delivery and Construction Administration.

Leadership experience shall include building consensus among K-12 administrative and public community groups, and a clear understanding of the language specific to the public education market.  Professional affiliations focused on the education market is a plus.

BIM Specialist

Our open studio environment fosters the pursuit of design excellence and rewards professional growth.  We are currently seeking a BIM Specialist to join our dynamic team in  Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, or Iowa City, Iowa; or Madison, Wisconsin.  The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree of Applied Science with a focus in Architectural Technology and be proficient in Revit – BIM360.

Our studio environment and collaborative approach to architecture and design requires that you work well with others and consistently build strong relationships with teammates and clients.  The right person for our studio is well organized and will have a balanced skill set including:  ability to create parametric families, create and understand Dynamo scripts, and an understanding of shared parameters in Revit; BIM360.  A working knowledge of Rhino + Grasshopper, Navisworks, and Avail are beneficial.  As well as experience in integrating BIM with project delivery, drawing sets, standardization, integration; experience with AR/VR and real-time rendering technologies.  In order to be successful, this individual must be a self-starter, enjoy teaching and mentoring others, promote collaborative work, possess an affinity for exploring new and emerging technologies, and be an engaged problem solver.

Construction Project Coordinator

OPN Architects is an award-winning architectural firm with multiple studios serving the greater Midwest. Our open studio environment nurtures design excellence and rewards professional growth. We are currently seeking a Construction Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team in our Des Moines, Iowa office. This position handles administrative tasks for the project manager, construction administrator and project team during the construction phase of projects.

The ideal candidate would have an associate degree in Architecture or Construction, or equivalent work experience in construction administration. Strong time management, conflict resolution, organization, and written/verbal communication skills, and attention to detail are required. One must also be able to read, understand, and work from construction documents and specifications, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam. Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCad is preferred. Responsibilities will include creating and maintaining job files, logs and tracking project documentation (RFI’s, submittals, change orders, etc), managing and coordinating electronic file requests, updating project-related construction documents as directed, preparing supplemental drawings and title blocks as needed, properly packaging and storing drawings/documents for both delivery and archive, and much more. Performance Director

Professional affiliations and industry leadership focused on the sustainability and performance market are a plus.  Experience and related skills shall include an advanced level of knowledge of the AIA’s Framework for Design Excellence and the 2030 Commitment, Post Occupancy Evaluation, and Indoor Air Quality, as well as technical knowledge of performance-based certifications such as WELL, ILFI Living Building, LEED, etc. Additional skills or experience with areas of behavioral research, surveys, subjective quantification, carbon assessments, LCA and areas of social equity and justice are a plus.
