Mercy Medical Center Dubuque Admitting & Entry
A new front entry at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque was an exciting opportunity to organize services, departments, and improve patient and family flow into and through the facility. As such, this project was a critical step in the ongoing operations of the center.
Designed to improve patient and visitor access while also creating a more welcoming entry into the hospital setting, the renovation kept the comfort and convenience of patients, families, and visitors paramount throughout the process.
The new entrance was moved north to offer better visibility from Langworthy Street, improve traffic flow, and allow for safe pedestrian crossings. A covered pull-through area protects patients and visitors during weather; new front doors improve climate control in the lobby.
Inside, every element — from the furniture to the colors of the walls to the covered carport — was designed to enhance patient comfort and promote the healing process. Amenities include new waiting and reception areas as well as digital screens with helpful information for patients and visitors. A heritage wall, depicting noteworthy milestones, celebrates Mercy’s rich history and deep ties to Dubuque and the surrounding communities.
