With 25% of the market share and plans to grow, Mercy Medical Center Clinton needed to renovate and right size their existing OB Department.

The department operated in a LDR and postpartum model with four LDR’s, one C-section, six postpartum rooms, and two overflow postpartum rooms adjacent to the department. The LDR’s and postpartum rooms were too small for the current standard of care. The LDR bathrooms did not have showers and the postpartum bathrooms were extremely small with showers that are not easy to access. The existing nursery is too big for their needs.

OPN is working with Mercy Medical Clinton to right size the LDR’s and postpartum rooms, install showers in the LDR’s as well as zero-entry showers in the postpartum rooms, and create a triage space. Renovations also include a overall refresh of and improved lighting in the OB department.

In order to keep the department operations, a space adjacent to the department was used to expand the department and facilitate phasing.
