Cottage Grove Place is a 93-bed, four-story addition to the Cedar Rapids home’s current facility. The design team wanted to create a space that felt like a home, and opted for finishes that evoked hospitality over institution. The addition closes the L-shaped building, and is broken into four types: skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, and memory care rooms; the project also includes the addition of a lower-level parking garage. New gathering spaces and comfortable dining and lounging spaces will encourage interaction between the residents.
The addition encloses a central courtyard, which features various outdoor terraced amenities, including a reflection pond with waterfall features, various patios including a memory care patio, pergolas, and a fire pit; a rooftop lounge overlooks the courtyard. A new street access covered entryway is built to the southeast.
