An architectural homecoming for Thomas Thatcher

JohnstonLiving (002)Thomas Thatcher has been involved in the design of the Johnston City Hall and Town Center since, “I got a little tap on my shoulder. ‘Would you be interested?’.”

The answer was an enthusiastic “Yes” from this lifelong Johnston resident. It’s not every day an architect has the opportunity to work on a project that will reshape the community that shaped him.

Thomas’ connection to the project was recently featured in Johnston Living Magazine for his “architectural homecoming”.

Thomas isn’t the only OPN designer currently working on a hometown project.

Project Architect Matthew Stewart is wrapping up the nearly complete Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center in Mount Vernon, a town his family has lived in for generations, including his young boys who will grow up using the center.

Project Architect Joe Feldmann has led the design of a new library and city hall in his hometown of Carroll, Iowa.

These stories are what we mean when we say we are honored to shape the environments where we live, work, and play.
