Year2001 & 2011
In 2007, OPN renovated Jones Hall to accommodate a wide-variety of vocational training spaces for students focused on mechanical, electrical, welding and construction trades, industrial maintenance and CNC machining. The renovation brought complementary vocational training programs into one central building increasing opportunities for collaboration and cross training. In 2011, a new addition was designed expanding the number and quality of courses offered in Jones Hall. The new wing houses generators, the hub and parts of a wind turbine for the new college’s Energy Production & Distribution program. In 2012, students from the Energy program installed a 4.8 kW photo-voltaic solar array that generates electricity for the building while providing ongoing training opportunities.
