ClientIndianola Community School District
In response to growing enrollment and outdated facilities, OPN Architects worked with the Indianola Community School District staff and community beginning in 2010 to develop a plan to solve immediate needs as well as a detailed phasing schedule for future projects. OPN conducted multiple feasibility studies and assessments and proposed solutions including new construction, renovations, site and athletic facility improvements, security enhancements, and technology upgrades. To date, OPN has assisted the district in an expansion and renovation of the middle school; renovations to Whittier, Irving, and Emerson elementary schools; and multiple phases of projects at the high school, including a three-phased new stadium. In each case, projects were implemented without disruption, and planned to accommodate students and staff throughout the school year. The largest project — the middle school addition and renovation — involved an administrative office relocation, cafeteria and media center expansion, and an 83,000-square foot addition for fine arts. A large field house — comprised of four athletic courts, recreational and competition tracks, a meeting room, a flexible exercise area, office spaces, and concessions — also was designed to complement the existing two-court gymnasium. OPN provided referendum support to fund the field house addition.
