A new $139-million state-of-the-art design and manufacturing facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, brings this company’s local design and production employees from multiple locations into a single center of excellence with modern manufacturing, engineering, and office space. This building brings together employees who had been operating in multiple area facilities into a single location, improves operational efficiency, optimizes production and enhances the company’s ability to deliver mission-critical GPS products for the military The building includes a large factory; several hundred offices for 900 employees, workstations, and flexible workspaces; and classified and unclassified labs. The manufacturing space was designed and built to accommodate highly specialized equipment with specific temperature and humidity requirements of each space. Furthermore, as a Department of Defense contractor, the company complex security needs requiring very specialized design and construction considerations. The building was designed for growth, with the ability to add 50,000 square feet of additional space in the future.
