ZiXiong Lin

ZiXiong (you can also call him Shawn) is from the Sichuan Province, Southwest of China. His interest in architecture started way back in middle school when he first watched a documentary about the architecture profession. Later, he attended Iowa State University for his Bachelor of Architecture, and has recently graduated from University of California, Berkley with his Master’s in Advanced Architectural Design. ZiXiong’s time at ISU is when he became familiar with OPN; his first research project was actually the Biorenewables Complex!

Q: Do you have a mantra or saying that you remind yourself of during projects?

A: “Architecture is really about well-being. I think that people want to feel good in a space… On the one hand it’s about shelter, but it’s also about pleasure.” ——Zaha Hadid

Q: What do you like about your industry?

A: Architecture is an interdisciplinary field that allows me to acquire knowledge from various domains without limitations. It encompasses aspects of both science, humanities, and the arts, making it the perfect fit for someone like me who has a passion for exploring diverse subjects.
