Margo Duffy

Margo holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture degree from UW-Madison. Before school, she had previously ventured from Canada to Minnesota then to Wisconsin, where she now resides with her husband and two teenage sons. Her work in the area has included projects for pillars of the Madison community such as the Goodman Community Center and the Madison Metro School District.

Margo’s design inspiration comes in many forms: from the human experience, to cultural context, and environmental sensitivity. She is inspired by the harmony of when all these facets come together in architecture and leave the building users with functional and meaningful environments. Margo is similarly moved by the clients who are enthusiastic about the potential a well-designed building can bring to their community.

The endless creative opportunities are what drew (and still draws!) Margo to architecture and the design industry. Even the constraints of a project can have a silver lining; to her they bring new ways of thinking, problem solving, and collaboration to each project. Through every challenge, focused on commitment and a wholehearted effort throughout, she reminds herself during projects, “Do or do not. There is no try.”

Q: Which phase of a project is your favorite?

A: While I enjoy every stage of a project’s life cycle, one of my favorite phases is during the initial kickoff and conceptual design phase. This period is filled with excitement and anticipation for the possibilities ahead. I value the opportunity to connect.

Q: What animal would you be and why?

A: I would be a Giraffe – tall, friendly energy, elegant and graceful. Giraffes have a beautiful introvert/extrovert balance to their demeanor and have a bird’s eye view of the world.
