After 20 years at OPN, Principal Rick Seely retires

Rick Seely 2

I believe that there is a single project in each architect’s career that represents a pivot point – a moment when they feel like they have finally figured out how to do this thing we call architecture.

For me, that project was Frank Gehry’s iconic Iowa Advanced Technologies Laboratory at the University of Iowa. I almost died on a site visit to the building. But, that’s not the reason I still keep the drawing set in a flat file.

To this day, if I see a building, I remember the process. I enjoy and appreciate the effort that went into the building.

I am humbled and honored to have spent the last 20 years at OPN, where I was fortunate to work on exceptional projects with exceptional people for exceptional clients.

Humility is knitted into the culture of OPN. And, it is with gratitude and humility that I say thank you to everyone who had my back over the last two decades at OPN. I hope you know I also had yours.

Humbly,
