An experience as unique as each cancer diagnosis

Every cancer diagnosis
is unique
Designing an experience for the annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night event in Madison needed to encompass both the profoundly personal experience of a cancer diagnosis as well as the expansive support system a diagnosis creates.
The result was an immersive experience with three installations strategically located at multiple locations at Madison’s Vilas Park.

“A cancer battle can change one’s perspective on life, whether for the patient or a loved one. The intent this year was to re-imagine the walk experience, thinking big about what light intervention across the landscape could do to evoke feeling and a sense of collective strength.”
– Erin Whitman, a designer at OPN Architects who helped lead the design and installation of this year’s Light the Night event for the local LLS chapter.

OPN’s architects and interior designers embrace our responsibility to care for each other and our planet through extraordinary design and a boundary-free practice.
We give back to our communities because we believe designers have an obligation and a privilege to be a catalyst for change by giving of our time and talent.
