Where are you originally from? Story City, Iowa
What do you like about your industry? I like that every day brings new challenges and opportunities that allow me to grow and adapt to the ever-changing world of construction.
What inspires your work? My work is inspired by the feeling of accomplishment at the end of a successful project or a long day of work.
What animal would you be and why? I would be a sea otter because they float on the water all day, use tools for various activities, and hold hands with other otters when they sleep.

Carolan Hoffman

Where are you originally from? Washington, Iowa
What do you like about your industry? I love the ability to make an impact within the world. Architecture is a unique field and it touches everyone. The idea that we are building not just to build, but to provide spaces that will influence, inspire, harbor innovation, and new ideas is amazing.
What inspires your work? My work is inspired by possibilities of the future and the ideas for change. As the world changes not only in society, but through climate change the need for new ideas and ways to solve problems becomes more evident. I think architecture has the possibility to instill massive change in the way we live and the way the world works.
What is one way you’d like architecture or design evolve? I would like to see design become even more inclusive not just for people, but for whole ecosystems.
What’s your favorite landmark and why? My favorite landmark is the Grotto of Tiberius in Sperlonga, Italy. The grotto is located on the sea next to a pretty seaside town. The grotto is serene and breathtaking- I could spend hours there looking at it.
Tara Ludwig

Where are you originally from? Cedar Rapids, Iowa
What do you like about your industry? I find it fascinating how the design and space of a building or structure can influence thoughts and behaviors just in the same way that creative design and messaging can influence how someone perceives a brand.
What inspires your work? Being able to communicate and express thoughts and ideas through visual graphics and story telling is inspiring to me. When everything fits together, you can just feel it.
What’s your favorite landmark and why? I love the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids. It’s such a neat building with a lot of history. It’s also where my husband and I got married!
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Burritos! They’re good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
