OPN welcomes Kristin Lewis, AIA, to firm partnership

OPN Architects is pleased to announce the promotion of Kristin Lewis, AIA, to our leadership team as an Associate Principal.

With a lifelong penchant for painting and drawing, Lewis says she knew she wanted to be an architect from an early age. She fulfilled that dream by way of Iowa State University.

In the decade since joining OPN in 2007, Kristin has emerged as a key partner for the firm’s education clients. Kristin will continue leading OPN’s work on campuses throughout the state, including her role as Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager of the Indian Hills North Campus, which is currently in the process of a $5.1 million addition to the campus.

She enjoys the variety of working in higher education.

“There is really every type of project within the framework of higher education; you can build libraries, labs, classrooms, and so on.”

She currently parlaying her higher education experience as the project manager leading the design of the new Ames High School, a $135 million project. In that role, Kristin is the liaison between the design team and the district. It’s a role she excels at. Kristin is known for having excellent relationships with clients.It’s also a quality she sees reflected in her coworkers and the firm’s work.

“OPN, as a firm, is very good at listening to our clients and creating what they need and want and marrying that to beauty and function. I think we end up with a lot of happy clients and buildings that really stand the test of time,” she says.

Her  promotion is one of two announced in Chicago during OPN’s annual staff retreat. Katie Harms has been appointed as Associate.
