Historic Polk County Courthouse honored with Award of Merit

Renovation work on the Polk County Historic Courthouse has been honored by the Illuminating Engineering Society with an Award of Merit. The IES Illumination Awards provides a unique opportunity for public recognition of professionalism, ingenuity, and originality in lighting design based upon the individual merit of each entry judged against specific criteria. Judges are selected from a broad professional spectrum that represents knowledge of lighting and design excellence.

Beginning in 2010, OPN has worked with Polk County to determine the viability of pursuing renovations to the Polk County Courts system. The resulting multi-phase Fifth Judicial District Master Plan includes the Polk County Justice Center, which will be complete this summer, the renovation of the Old Main Jail into the new Polk County Criminal Courts, and renovation of the Historic Polk County Courthouse, which was completed in 2015.
