Toby Olsen

Toby has been with OPN Architects since 2009. An associate principal at OPN, Toby has a deep knowledge base crafted by experience with a variety of projects, with a specialty and passion for library design. He relishes working with people, be it in public participation processes, strategic planning, or client visioning sessions. Toby was a leading designer for the award-winning Cedar Rapids Public Library in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He’s worked on the design and led the management of new and renovated library projects across the country.

Q: What do you like about your industry?

A: We are problem solvers. Every client is unique, every design is custom, and no two buildings are ever alike. It brings variety to what we do each day, and keeps our design skills in top form when we approach every client with a blank sheet of paper, ready to listen.
