Richard Seely

As principal at OPN Architects, Rick Seely has built an extensive portfolio of high-profile and award-winning work.  Numerous community projects and work on many of our cultural treasures across Iowa make up a significant portion of Rick’s work as well. His experience includes master planning; large, phased campus projects; renovations; and restorations on a variety of buildings types, including Salisbury House, Hoyt Sherman Place, the Des Moines Art Center, Grant Wood Studio, and the Madison County Preservation Committee. Nineteen of Rick’s 32 years of experience have been with OPN.

Q: What inspires your work?

A: Inspiration for me comes from the creative tribe we surround ourselves with each day: the talent in our studios, the larger architectural community, and the passion we can find within our clients. The result of pushing the creative boundary further in our design efforts, all while making sure the functions are met, is the art in architecture.
