Parisa Afshari
Originally from Iran, Parisa called Ohio home while getting her degree at Kent State University. Her master’s thesis included designing a trauma-informed pediatric behavioral health facility with nature-inspired therapy pods and sensory-friendly environments. Parisa is inspired by potential. Architecture can provide a designed safe space, a healing environment that can support patients and caregivers. She emphasizes that fostering comfort, dignity and hope are important factors of her designs.
Q: When did you know you wanted to be an architect or designer?
A: I realized I wanted to be an architect in high school when I became fascinated by how spaces can influence emotions and behaviors. This grew into a passion for designing environments that positively impact people’s lives.
