Tate Walker

Tate is an associate principal and a nationally recognized leader on energy and sustainability in the built environment. A Saint Paul resident, Tate founded the OPN’s Minneapolis studio in 2022. He has built a vast portfolio of experience throughout his 25 years of experience. In addition, he regularly writes and presents on issues relating to energy, technology, building science, and promoting environmental awareness through design. Tate recently contributed to writing the State of Wisconsin Sustainability Standards in 2021 and currently serves on the Governor of Minnesota’s Clean Energy and Efficient Buildings Workgroup.

Q: What do you like about your industry?

A: There are a million great reasons to be in architecture. If I had to choose only one, it would have to be that our buildings reflect our values.
